You know, Henry Kissinger is still alive (remarkably, considering he was a major White House advisor almost 50 years ago). Somebody should e-mail him that drawing and ask, “This touching scene with Nixon, could anything like that ever have occurred”?
I don’t know if the artist’s intention was to stir up compassion or contempt. In any case, I personally find this to be a very strong and touching image, beyond every personal political belief.
Great link. That story, if true, would surely justify the depiction. You may remember that I am a history buff; I like the historical aspects of the artwork that you post. Thanks.
