I am very interested in this painting that I have found in my friends basement. It is a painting by Frederick Ogden, and I cannot seem to find it anywhere. I have searched all over the internet for it, but cannot find it. I was wondering if anyone could help me.
Hello I have a signed print of one of his in the woods with a cabin in it with lake and mountains behind. If you are still interested my email is donnasunshine@tampabay.rr.com.
I FOUND FREDERICK D OGDEN IN A SIMILAR MANNER. I BOUGHT SEVERAL OLD LITHOGRAPHS AT AN AUCTION. THE FRAMES WERE IN BAD SHAPE BUT THANKFULLY THE PRINT OF OGDEN’S “WINTER MOONLIGHT” IS NEARLY PERFECT.
MY PRINT IS 16″ X 20″. THE FIRST THING I HAVE DONE WITH MY PRINT IS TO REMOVE IT FROM THE OLD FRAME AND CARDBOARD BACKING. I HAVE PURCHASED AN ACID-FREE FOAM BOARD FOR THE RESTORATION.
OGDEN WAS ONE OF FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN PAINTERS TO BE WELL-KNOWN IN LANDSCAPES. TO ME HIS WORK REPRESENTS BEAUTY AND SIMPLICITY IN A ROMANTIC ERA OF THE WEST. PRINTS IN GOOD CONDITION SHOULD SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE IN VALUE. THEY ALSO SHOULD BE OF INTEREST TO LOCAL LIBRARIES AND ART CENTERS. I MAY PLACE MINE ON LOAN FOR SIX MONTHS OR SO.
I AM OFFERING MY PRINT FOR SALE IN MY SHOP AT THE PRICE OF $95.
PLEASE SEND ME THE LITHO PRINT NUMBER–USUALLY FOUND IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT OR LEFT CORNER. MOST LIKELY YOUR PRINT IS FROM “C. MOSS”.
Hi Dave, do you have the original “Winter Moonlight”? also, would it be possible for you or someone you might be in contact with to give me just a touch of info on this artist? i would like to know if his work is/was considered at high value? i too have a “Winter Moonlight” oil painting by Frederick D. Ogden, thank you Dave for your valuable time.
I have a picturee I picked up at a thirft shop and my mother inlaw told me she thinks it was a great find the picture is Moutain view and I think it is breath taking the G.P is 6337 and is Litho U.S.A co. I am looking for more info on this item.
I to am trying to find out some information on a print I found while cleaning my late Mother-in-laws house. It has Frederick D Ogden on the lower right corner. Below that is C. MOSS 1940, and below that is LITHO IN U.S.A. On the lower left corner is the number 2302. Beautiful mountains in the background reflecting on a lake, rocks in foreground and a cabin with smoke coming out the chimney. There is some (2) small scratches on the darkened sky, but a very nice scene. Anyone with information on this? Thanks for your help.

I’m in possesionof an Ogden painting depicting horse pulling a wagon across a stream with a horseback rider leading the way. In the background are what appear to be foothills. Would anyone have information regarding this print which is stamped 553 on the back lining. It is signed in loweer left corner by the artist.
I have what appears to be an original Ogden entitled MOuntain Pool and Heavy Snow.26×32
Signed on the bottom left corner
The title and artist name are noted on the back of the canvas in what appears to be pencil
I am trying to figure out how to authenticate it and find its value
Hi I have a ogden print its a stream with mountians in the back, it also has birds in the sky. His signature is in the left bottem of print. its in its origenal frame.I would like to know more about it also what the value may be.
Robin, I saw your post about your Ogden painting. I have one similar to your description, if not the same one. I was wondering if you had any responses about the value of it. Thanks, Glenda B.
Hi Glenda, No Im sorry I havent Found out anything as of yet, My husband and I are going to the Antiques Roadshow Aug 6th and we are going to take it (the picture) with us, so then maybe I will know more. Im also wanting to find out more about Mr Ogden. I will get back with you as soon as I return.
I have recently found a Ogden Lithograph. It is in the original frame and seems to be in very good condition. The number in the corner is 6885. I am wondering what the name of the picture is. Any idea of it’s value?
hello, i too have an oil painting done by Frederick D. Ogden, entitled ” Winter Moonlight ” the painting appears to be in fairly great condition, the painting is framed in gold, i am very curious to know how i can distinguish an original from a replica, also, is there a fairly high value on this artists work?
Glenda, I have a print in my basement , and I believe the name on it is Frederick D. Ogden, It is a stream with trees in background , with three deer on the banks., Have had this for many years, was given to my husband by a friend.
Am wondering if this is an original or print, have not taken it out of the frame, but am going to , check to see if there is a number or any other info.
Virginia
I think I have the same painting. It is of a stream, waterfall on the right. 3 deer are on the bank and it has mountains and clouds. It is signed and in the right hand corner it says: G.P. 6338 Litho in U.S.A. (L)? Co. I was wondering if you had any response to your post?
Chris, i have the same picture as you but i dont have any numbers by his name it is not a litho, it is a print i do believe. do you have any clue to the value or any info of what the name of the painting is/ thank you. dee
I think i have the same one.Waterfalls to the right, deer on the left side on a bank, mountains and a really high tree to the left. Chris from Brithish Columbia
I have recently been given a Federick D. Ogden framed print that hung in my grandparents living room for years. It is a sea scene with two naval ships transiting. Any info or value on this?
Upon closer inspection, it appears this is a commercial reproduction print with no data on it and that someone has glued, two newspaper cut outs of perfectly scaled in size Naval ships, onto the print! I dont suppose this technique was used by Ogden on his prints… and this may be the work of my one Grandfather who was a WW II Navy veteran. This was Granpa’s MO and the “repairs” (screws and wire) to the frame strengthen my assumptions. Strangely though, the print was passed to me by my other Grandfather, the WW II Army veteran. Both Grandfathers were friends for many years and only lived a few blocks from each other…very plausible to think one passed it to the other. I miss them both, the greatest generation.
I have an Odgan framed picture. It is of a scene with snow topped mountains with rushing water down a small falls into a lower green area where four deer are grazing on very green follage. The picture has the name Bow River Falls stamped on the back . I assume that is the name of the place that inspired the painting. I knew the lady that owned the picture. I am very sure she was the only owner. She passed away some twenty years ago but before I give it to her grandaughter I was hopeing to have more information to share..
Hi Carol,
I have an Ogdan and it has a sticker on it that says 2818 Bow River Falls on it but its typed in I assume by a typewriter as it looks old. It’s on a sticker from the Georgia Art Supply Co., in Atlanta, GA. So I think that is the address but I can find either when I Google them. I think mine is an oil painting that I picked up at a yard sale recently. It has $149.50 penciled in on the back which I think would be the selling price at the time. So I thnk it might be valuable. If you’ve learned any more about your painting please let me know. Thanks, Derrell
No, I”m sorry to say I did not. The picture had belonged to my granddaughter’s fraternal grandmother so when she recently bought a home it went to her. I have ask her to keep contact with American Gallery and to continue looking for more infprmation about the picture and Mr. Ogdon. I will certainly put any new info on the wed site should it come to me. Thank you so much, Carol Perkins cnpmunford@live.com Date: Fri, 12 Oct 2012 22:37:57 +0000 To: cnpmunford@live.com
