How would I locate the painting by Susan Ricker Knox, entitled” Portrait of Molly”? It was for many years at the Brooks Museum of Art, hanging in Gallery B, Memphis, Tenn, but vanished after a renovation in the 1960’s.
The portrait if a young girl (teen?) wearing a white riding habit and seated in the sunlit woods.

I am Molly’s daughter -in-law. The last I knew (a few years ago) the Brooks still had the painting though it was not hung. I’d be fascinated to know what your interest in it is. Pat Ordway

Dear Pat.
At last a contact. For many years when I was younger I tried to purchase the “Portrait of Molly” as it was no longer hanging. Each new director of Brooks would make a search and conclude that the painting is no longer in their archives. They thought perhaps it was sold as the renovations took place.
I was diligent in trying for many years. It is a lovely painting, and when I was a student of Henry Madden’s at Southwestern (now Rhodes) learning to paint portraits, I loved to study the painting. I still wold love to own it, if only it were to be found and be for sale.
Thanks so much for writing. Patsy Taylor
